Confidence

Confidence is what many would call a central psychological quality. More than any other aspect of our personality it is confidence that gives us the ability and willingness to interact with the world. When our confidence is low our sense of “I can do this” is very limited – sometimes the very thought of a business meeting, an evening with friends or even venturing beyond our front door seems beyond our capabilities.

Confidence isn’t some “new-age/feel-good” psychology concept. Albert Bandura, considered by some the greatest psychologist of the 20th century, claimed that confidence, the sense of self-effectiveness, is an absolutely primary quality for psychological health and social effectiveness.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for low confidence and low self-esteem.

In hypnotherapy the treatment given for low confidence is called “ego-strengthening” or “ego-boosting and generally this is the first treatment every client receives. Almost every condition benefits from initial work on building confidence – since the sense of self-belief in our abilities has an enormous impact on how we think, feel, and behave.

Relaxation and confidence – how they are related

Interestingly nearly all clients benefit from learning how to relax more. When we know we can relax and calm down we more easily build a sense of effectiveness, and confidence in our ability to manage our own emotions and thoughts.

“People who believe they have the power to exercise some measure of control over their lives are healthier, more effective and more successful than those who lack faith in their ability to effect changes in their lives.” – Albert Bandura

In a state of deep hypnotic relaxation clients are given powerful suggestions for feeling more confident, more in control and more effective in their lives. In addition clients learn how to remember and focus on previous experiences of success and confidence while learning how to view experiences of failure or low confidence as learning situations.

In hypnosis clients rehearse situations where they want to feel more confident – and through this experience of mental rehearsal in hypnosis they develop a sense of real ability that influences performance in real life situations.

Take action now to rebuild confidence!

It’s really important to understand that each of us needs to take conscious action to build our confidence when we have had an experience that has lowered our sense of confidence.

Clients seeking help for confidence boosting range from high-flying business people who have just suffered a setback and need to rapidly rebuild confidence to those who have persistent low self-esteem. Many people suffering from chronic low confidence have simply not developed the habits of positive thought and action that create a strong sense of self-confidence. Cognitive Hypnotherapy provides a powerful and effective solutions to rapidly rebuild confidence and develop robust self-esteem.
